Not Your Average Ad Network

The PressChain ad marketplace is built around proof-of-placement and escrow - not click-farm metrics, not opaque algorithms, not platform-extracted revenue. When an advertiser buys ad placement on your canonical articles, funds are held in escrow until placement is verified on-chain. Then 95% goes to you automatically.

How It Works

1

Advertiser creates a campaign

An advertiser submits a campaign at ads.presschain.io:
  • Ad content and targeting (topic channel, region, minimum outlet tier)
  • PRESS budget (escrowed immediately)
  • Campaign duration
2

Matching

The protocol matches campaigns to your eligible Capsules based on targeting criteria and your distribution tier. Higher tier = better campaign matches.
3

Placement verified on-chain

The SYNC plugin renders ad placements on your article pages. Proof-of-placement is verified automatically.
4

Settlement

95% of the ad spend routes to your outlet wallet - split between contributors per their shareBps. 5% protocol fee splits to validators, burn, and foundation.Settlement is automatic. No waiting for a check.

Enabling Ads

Portal → MonetizationAds → Toggle ON Configure:
  • Minimum escrow period - how long funds are held before release (e.g., 7 days)
  • Dispute window - how long advertisers can flag a placement issue
  • Content restrictions - categories of ads you won’t accept

Revenue Split

Ad Campaign Spend: 1,000 PRESS
├── 5% Protocol Fee (50 PRESS)
└── 95% to outlet (950 PRESS)
      → Split by contributor shareBps:
         Author (7000 bps): 665 PRESS
         Editor (3000 bps): 285 PRESS

Ad Disputes

If an advertiser disputes a placement (e.g., placement wasn’t shown as agreed), the escrowed funds are held pending resolution through the protocol’s escrow dispute mechanism. No human arbitrator - deterministic resolution.

What Makes Your Articles Attractive to Advertisers

  • Premium distribution tier - your articles reach more readers
  • Verified or Clean integrity label - advertisers pay more for credible placement
  • Strong acceptance rate - signals audience engagement
  • Topic channel presence - advertisers target specific topics
An investigative article with a Verified label in the investigative topic channel will attract better-paying campaigns than an unverified article with no channel placement.
