PRESS

PRESS is the native economic asset used by PressChain protocol rules for bonds, fees, funded actions, rewards and treasury flows. Current V3 authority defines PRESS with 18 decimals. Existing network balances are testnet-only.

Planned mainnet supply

The planned mainnet supply is:
Mainnet receives a new PRESS asset. Testnet balances do not automatically migrate, and testnet genesis is not reused. That distinction should be visible anywhere an application shows a testnet balance. Do not create product copy that implies test PRESS represents a claim on future mainnet PRESS.

Base units

Store token quantities as integer base units.
Never use JavaScript floating-point arithmetic for settlement logic.

What PRESS does

PRESS economics are designed around explicit action classes rather than charging arbitrary values throughout an interface. PRESS can be involved in:
  • role bonds
  • publication and evidence fees
  • challenges and reviews
  • bounty funding
  • reward claims
  • feed registration and publishing policy
  • premium protocol usage where approved
  • treasury and burn routing under approved policy
Network gas is a separate execution concern and should not be mislabeled as a protocol fee.

Mainnet policy is gated

The supply plan does not finalize all tokenomics. Mainnet still requires approved allocation and vesting, treasury and bounty policy, validator rewards, burn and fee routing and independent supply verification. Applications should therefore build around semantic fee classes and network-specific amount configuration.

Economic auditability

When a user authorizes an economic action, retain the action class, expected amount, actual transaction value or token transfer, transaction hash and resulting state transition in your product audit log. Users should be able to understand why value moved, not merely that their balance decreased.
